The Solar Plexus

There is a reason the Solar Plexus Chakra is called the Solar Plexus.  Like the Sun which is the center of the solar system and radiates light and life outwards, the Solar Plexus Chakra can be thought of as the energetic center of the human and can be used to radiate energy to the rest of the body.  This energy can be used to Energize your Body and Soul, Improve your Moods, Improve your Health, Quiet your Mind and Induce Lucid Dreaming and Astral Projection.

The Solar Plexus is located in your belly region above your Belly Button and below the lower tip of your Xiphoid Process.  Physically it heavily influences the organs of digestion: stomach, liver, pancreas, small intestine and large intestine.  Energetically it can be thought of as a center of digestion and absorption of Chi Energy.

There are 4 main topics I will address with regards to attaining positive benefits from your Solar Plexus…

1. Moon Phase: The phase of the moon has a subtle but powerful effect on the energetic system of humans.  The best time for doing Solar Plexus work is from one or two days before the Waxing Quarter Moon until the Full Moon.  The moon gives off a very pleasant yang type of energy during this time period which is beneficial to many types of energy work.

You do not need to limit yourself to only this time period for doing energy work but you might find that you get your best results during this time period.

2. Solar Plexus Energy Work: There are two or three chakras in the solar plexus region any of which has been historically called the solar plexus chakra.  The practice is to inhale energy into your body through the highest of these chakras at the bottom tip of your xiphoid process.  On the inhale pull Chi Energy down into your solar plexus region through this highest chakra.  On the exhale send chi to all parts of your body along with good thoughts.

Breathe in a slow, relaxed manner.  Inhale and exhale through your nose.  When you exhale think a positive affirmation such as “Happy Happy Joy Joy.”  This is the classic mantra from the Ren and Stimpe Show of the late 80’s to early 90’s.  Try to actually Feel happy and joyful when you think the mantra / affirmation.  After a while you won’t have to think the mantra, just smile and feel happy as you do the breathing.  Exhale with the intention of sending and filling your body and soul with this happy, joyful energy.

3. Sleeping Position 1: When going to sleep, either at night or during a daytime nap, begin by laying flat on your back.  Do this without a pillow if possible.  Put your left hand palm down on your belly button.  Put your right hand palm down on the Lions Head region of your chest.  I call this region the pit of the chest, the transition area between the lower region of your chest and the upper region of your belly.  This region is shown by a lions head on a Roman era bas relief of the god Mithras.

To digress a minute…This Roman bas relief is a fascinating goldmine of symbolism.  Notice how the feet and crown chakras are emphasized with fire.  Notice the rising, spiraling serpernt / kundalini energy.  Notice the angel’s wings.  Notice the lighting bolt in the right hand and the staff in the left hand.  Notice the heads in the 4 corners.  Finally notice that the god is in a Vesica Piscis like ellipse of astrological signs / constellations.  Without going into an analysis of all the symbolism of this piece,  I just want to emphasize this sculpture as being a Truly amazing work of art.

Back to sleeping position 1… The goal of laying in this position is to notice when you go into the hypnagogic state of consciousness and to prolong this state as much as possible before falling asleep.  You will notice a deep relaxation in your body and feel waves of sleepy energy moving through your body.  You will see dreamlike imagery in your mind.  When you notice this happening, pay attention to it and try not to fall asleep.  After a few minutes roll over onto your side and go into sleeping position two.

4. Sleeping Position 2: Lay on your side.  Either right or left side is fine.  Use a pillow to support your head.  Start with your body straight, with your upper arm laying palm down along your body and your lower arm extended out palm up at a 90 degree angle to the length of your body.  Then pull your knees up slightly so your thighs make about a 135 degree angle with your upper body and a 45 degree angle with the line your legs previously formed.  Your lower legs can be angled back towards that previous line.  This is sort of a mild fetal position.

As with Sleeping Position 1, lay there paying attention to the sleepy energy waves moving through your body and the dreamlike imagery in your mind.  Again, prolong this hypnagogic state of consciousness as long as possible before falling off to sleep.

If you are successful noticing and prolonging the hypnagogic state for even just a few minutes you will almost certainly have lucid dreams that evening.

If your goal is to have a spontaneous astral projection event during sleep, preseed the sleep positions with an astral projection promoting exercise…

Astral Projection: Lay flat on your back, no pillow, hands palms down by your sides.  Go through a progressive muscle relaxation process.  Moving from your head down to your feet, pick a muscle group, tense it for about 30 second then release.  The do the same with the next muscle group and so on until you have done all major muscle groups from head to toe.  Then, as you inhale imagine you compel or energetically pull your astral body up out of your physical body.  As you exhale allow it to fall back down into your physical body.  Do this repeatedly for 15 minutes to half an hour.  Then proceed with Sleeping Position 1 and Sleeping Position 2.  Then allow yourself to fall asleep.  You will likely have a lucid dream and / or a spontaneous astral projection event while sleeping that evening.
